Historical context

This conversation gives the most direct information about Hassan, Lerch's main Zaza source. Hassan's Sivan framework matches the region that appears in the 1841 Palu population register as a 42-village Sivan nahiye and was later attached to Genç and known as Servi. The working identification for Kasan/Kassau/Kaschan is today's Günkondu, listed as Kasan/Kasun in Sivan village lists.

Research note

The spelling Hassan/Hasan follows Lerch's form. Kasan/Günkondu, Horsik/Saklıca, Aldun/Alaaddin, and Hêmek/Hamek/Yeniler are supported by sources; Weşin, Talek, Kavare, and Gowman document additional local geography. The name Melken on Kiepert's map strengthens the Melêkang/Melekan = Sarıbudak identification.

The German reading text follows Lerch’s German translation (1857, printed pp. 58–61; local PDF pp. 102–105), with modern wording. Its abbreviated village list is expanded from the printed Zazaki, using the simplified name forms of the existing readings. The list names 33 villages despite the preceding answer of 34. For housing, the German print says “hut” and “four or five houses”; the English and Turkish readings interpret the quantity as rooms and render hut as house. At the summer camp, the German print makes staying in huts conditional on their presence. It places the return in the first autumn month. The German account of participation in the feuds and its final wording “mag (also) nicht sprechen” are also preserved rather than silently aligned with the other readings.
